Confronting Victim Blaming. Exploring Consent.
teaching the world to ask.
“Did you see what she was wearing? How much was she drinking? Why did she go back home with him? What did she expect?
She was ASKING FOR IT.”
This awful phrase is used to blame victims of sexual violence. Karli has heard it muttered by law enforcement, teachers, students, and even friends regarding her own assault.
By reclaiming this phrase we’re eliminating it’s oppressive meaning and replacing it with an pro-active action to teach the world to ASK for IT:
consent, respect, help, equality, justice, & empathy.
Asking For It with Karli Johnson is a four-part-project aimed to confronting victim blaming and exploring consent, with additional focuses on asking for concepts to make our world a better place.
